With the charity sector reporting a fall in the number of cash donations, (mirroring the wider consumer purchasing trend where cash is being used less and less), the Royal British Legion have been looking to explore the potential of using QR codes to make it easier for donors with no cash at hand to donate.
Supported Giving managed a nationwide 60 site trial of paying for poppies using QR2Donate, where donors could pay using either Apple Pay or Google Pay. In addition, Supported Giving managed the Gift Aid sign up and the taking of marketing preferences during the mobile transaction. As well as supporting digital donations, the Supported Giving team were involved in manning street collections on chilly November days for the Royal British Legion in and around Chelmsford – promoting QR2Donate as well as taking the usual cash donations from passers by. There seemed to be strong demand for the enamel pin badges so more need to be available for next year!
