The Mourne Mountain or ‘Mournes’ as it’s known locally, is situated in Northern Ireland about an hours’ drive south of Belfast. This area has always been a magnet for those who want to enjoy nature, so much so that the history of organised Mountain Rescue teams began in 1962 when the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team was founded.
Today, the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team is made up of volunteers who live in and around the Mourne area. They are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The team is made up of people from all different backgrounds, all voluntarily giving up their time and expertise to support those in need.
We were delighted to assist The Mourne Mountain Rescue Team with their remote contactless donation strategy, including the use of our QR2Donate solution which has meant QR codes have been implemented on signage situated in 14 car parks around the mountains. The Mourne Mountain Rescue Team are solely funded from donations, so the ability to receive donations via a simple solution is a welcomed addition.
In addition to supplying a QR code to donate, we also supplied a QR code that when scanned, provided the user with a guide to mountain safety. All QR codes can be reported on separately for donation income.
