Throughout June, July and August, many of the LGBTQ+ charities have been hosting Pride events, raising awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community and bringing them together in celebration.
Liberate Guernsey
Supported Giving have been working with Liberate Guernsey since Feb 2022. Liberate, is an inclusive Group, which welcomes people irrespective of sexual orientation, gender identity, religious belief, race, gender or disability.
Supported Giving helped Liberate Guernsey get set up with QR2Donate for their ‘Love is Love’ Event, despite the very quick turnaround and tight time scale, not only did they take a large number of donations at the event, they also saw multiple supporters set up regular monthly donations. Liberate used the portal to track donation reports on the day of the event and commented below on their experience:
Thanks once again, for allowing Liberate to get up and running taking donations & subscriptions. The marketing push, devising leaflets explaining what we do, heavily featuring the QR codes and your rock-solid and sophisticated donation software, appears to have rather impressed a potential High Net Worth donor.
Since Liberate began their journey with Supported Giving, they now have many Regular Donor/Subscribers and continue to see a steady income of one off donations throughout the year. Liberate had a fantastic few months of fundraising during Pride Month using their QR codes to collect single and regular donations and have continued to grow new donors through the easy and simple QR platform. Supported Giving are very excited to see the growing success as Liberate move into their second year using the Supported Giving Platform.
Manchester Pride
Manchester Pride hosted an annual Gay Village Party which opened on Friday 26th August 2022 with trans led and curated event, Trans Filth and Joy, and continued throughout August Bank Holiday weekend with its most diverse programme yet; including takeovers from Black Pride MCR, Fat Pride and Queer Women’s Takeover. 200,000 people have attended the Gay Village Party over the past 5 years and Manchester Pride have raised £1.5M for LGBTQ+ good causes across Greater Manchester since 2003.
This was the first time Manchester Pride had explored the option to provide QR codes at their largely attended event. Although this is a ticketed event, Supported giving’s QR codes helped raise a significant amount of donations, exceeding expectations and making it really simple and easy for attendees to donate.
Mardi Gla
Glasgow’s Pride Mardi Gla “a colourful and vibrant show of love and respect” is set to return to the city in the summer of 2023, following the successful 2022 event that saw more than 21,000 people take part in the largest ever Scotland pride march. In 2022, Supported Giving assisted Mardi Gla with their cashless fundraising throughout the ongoing Pride events. Chair of the organising committee Dan Syme said: “I am delighted that we saw our largest ever pride march this year hot on the heels of being the biggest UK march in 2021 as covid restrictions began to ease.”
Mardi Gla will continue to grow due to the extended headline sponsorship for the next four years from law firm Scullion LAW. Supported Giving are looking forward to assisting Mardi Gla, Glasgow’s largest pride for their 2023 fundraising.
AKT
In early 2021 Supported Giving partnered with AKT as they didn’t have a cashless donation system in place. During covid they saw a fall in donations and were keen to look at alternative options. AKT started their cashless journey on a small scale; QR codes on collection tins in pubs, local community centres and posters.
Although they had brilliant success to begin with, AKT took it to the next level by providing their corporate partners with QR codes prior to the pride months, adding them on flyers and using them at their pride events. AKT has become one of Supported Giving’s most successful customers to date. By using a variety of unique QR codes, this has enabled AKT to track specifically how their donation stream has come in and what their biggest fundraising events/areas currently are. Identifying their strong fundraising areas which has helped with their cashless fundraising in 2022.
In 2022, AKT took their fundraising to the next level. AKT created QR codes for each of their corporate partners who promoted them in offices, in shops, via their social media, at 3rd party fundraising events and much more, which saw huge results, exceeding expectations and tripling the donations from 2021. This allowed AKT to track and manage the income stream through the Supported Giving Customer Portal. Supported Giving are really excited to continue working with AKT for a third year.
Pride Canterbury
Pride Canterbury hosted a parade through the High Street, followed by live entertainment in Dane John Gardens in June 2022. 25,000 people came together to celebrate diversity, equality and progress. This was the first year that Pride Canterbury had explored QR codes as a cashless donation option following the decline in cash from covid. Many Pride charities didn’t hit their fundraising target due to the decrease in attendee numbers throughout 2021 and due to not offering a cashless option for supporters to donate (which many charities hadn’t prepared for post pandemic). 2022 was incredibly successful for Pride Canterbury and Supported Giving are looking forward to assisting them again for their 2023 fundraising event.
